What Are the Axes of A 5-axis Servo Robot?

5-axis Servo Robot

With the rapid advancement of the intelligent manufacturing industry, traditional injection molding processes have increasingly adopted robotic automation to replace manual labor. Among the most commonly utilized machines is the 5-axis servo robot, known for its precision and versatility. We will explore the benefits of using servo robots for injection molding productions.

Injection Molding Robots

The axis on the 5-axis machine is driven by the servo motor, ensuring high precision, rapid response and stable motion control. This capability makes it ideal for a range of complex automation applications in injection molding, such as the high-efficiency production of automotive parts, electronic devices, packaging containers, and more. Its flexibility and efficiency have made the 5-axis servo robot a popular choice within the injection molding industry.

You might have heard of 3-axis servo robots and 5-axis robots. Do you know what are the axes referring to? What exactly are the five axes?

  • Positive arm pilot shaft:Control the main body of the robot to move along the front and rear directions. It performs the action of taking out the finished product from the injection molding machine.
  • Positive arm upper and lower axes: Responsible for the upper and lower movement of the main part of the robot, and the height of the work when regulating.
  • Jib lead shaft: The 5-axis servo manipulator design includes a secondary arm. This axis controls the forward and backward movement of the secondary arm. The secondary rm is used for finer operations or to assist the primary arm in completing the take-out maneuver.
  • Jib upper and lower shafts: Similarly, the upwardand downward movement of the jib is controlled to increase flexibility and adaptability in the z-axis direction.
  • Transverse axis: To make the whole injection molding 5-axis robot move left and right along the transverse direction of the injection molding machine. The axis helps to accurately locate each pickup position of the mold.
